The Mission of the Alliance Française

The mission of the Alliance Française de Richmond is derived directly from the one established in 1883 by the Alliance Française de Paris, whose role was to teach French and promote the Francophone cultures.

In the U.S.A. the AF chapters with a large membership base, and financial means, also encourage the cultural, intellectual, and artistic exchanges between the U.S. and the French speaking world.

The Alliance Française de Richmond has less ambitious objectives, at least for the present time and having less than one hundred members, belongs today to the "Club" category. The context being the ability to offer cultural and social events, but not formal classes in French. It is our hope that we will  reach the next level "Partenaire" in the near future,  at which time we shall be able to offer classes.

Our Alliance is managed locally as an independent non-profit organization without political or religious affiliations. The membership is open to all those interested in the character and purpose of this club.

Come and Practice your French with us:

Club of French conversation. We meet once a month
at a local café. We speak French while enjoying a
cup of tea or coffee, or a glass of wine.
There is a conference  on a choosen subject.
